John Lee Hooker "Tupelo"

I think this is actually my first blues post. John Lee Hooker is definitely my favorite blues artist, with Muddy Waters, BB King, Son House, Lighnin' Hopkins, Elmore James, and Howlin' Wolf.

Blues is a special kind of music. Not only is it the root of Rock n' Roll, but it was the hip hop of its time; nearly identical in every way.

This song, also known as "Black Water Blues" could have just as easily been about Katrina. I love John Lee Hooker's seemingly-simple riffs, deep, tired, and wise voice.
